Personal Prompt
Are you flourishing, and in what ways?
Pick one of the three flourishing frameworks highlighted in the ‘F is for Flourishing’ blog — Martin Seligman’s PERMA, Carol Ryff’s six dimensions, or Martha Nussbaum’s 10 capabilities — and reflect on how you are doing against each of the elements of wellbeing.
Practice Prompt
Are the people you work with or support flourishing? Choose a colleague or person you support and think about how they fare against one of the flourishing frameworks. What do you know versus assume? Come up with a list of questions or topics you could explore with them around their own wellbeing.
Policy Prompt
Think about your organization. From your perspective, what are the end outcomes it aims to achieve? How do those outcomes relate to flourishing or wellbeing? Now, take a look at your organization’s policy manual: where and how does wellbeing or flourishing show up, if at all? (Fun tip: do a search for the words: wellbeing, flourishing, happiness, purpose, meaning, connection, etc.). In what ways does your organization contribute to flourishing and in what ways does your organization stand in the way of flourishing?
